Large Oxblood Red Resin Foo Dog Guardian Lion

A striking large and very heavy Foo Dog guardian lion, made from solid resin with a rich oxblood-red finish and deep black shading that emphasises the elaborate sculpted detail.

The guardian is depicted in a powerful traditional pose with its paws resting around a decorated ball. Its dramatic expression, open mouth, curled mane and sweeping tail are particularly finely modelled, while engraved floral decoration covers the ball beneath it.

The deep oxblood colouring is especially effective on this piece, giving it the appearance of traditional carved red lacquer or cinnabar while retaining the substantial weight and durability of resin.
