Vintage Hand-Carved Wooden Offertory Plate – Floral Design

A beautifully characterful vintage hand-carved wooden offertory plate, generously sized at approximately 12 inches across and decorated with an intricate raised floral design.

The centre is dominated by a stylised flowering plant, its branches carrying two deeply carved, layered blossoms surrounded by textured leaves. A rope-like carved border frames the central motif, while the broad outer rim is worked with further leaves and small flowers, creating an attractive continuous design around the entire plate.

The carving has wonderful depth and texture, with the darker aged finish settling naturally into the recessed areas and highlighting the individual cuts made by the carver. Rather than being perfectly uniform, the decoration retains the small variations and irregularities that give hand-worked wooden pieces their particular charm.

Originally acquired as an offertory plate, its exact origin and age are unknown, and we make no further attribution. Today it would make an unusual decorative bowl or display piece as well as an interesting addition to a collection of vintage carved wood and traditional objects.
